A letter from Would the main reason that the "Dragoons" have more pictures be because they were often closer to civilization more than we were, had better access to cameras and film, and could keep their cameras and film dry?

Ken speaks Of course they did.  There was hardly a unit more remote than Bravo Co. I click on it ever day now.  Thanks for your hard work.  God got a good man the other day with Top.  Ssg Cribbs was like a hero to me in 'nam.  They helped to turn scared boys into young men.  They don't make many like them these days.  Thanks again for the web page.  Keep it up. Jimmy Hadden A letter from a Vet's son:

Your site is a great tribute to those who served and continue to do so.  I just wanted to ask you if you knew of any other 4th ID reunion/remembrance websites.  Specifically, my father was a platoon leader and briefly a company XO.  I'm pretty sure he served in the 1st of the 8th/4th ID in 1969 (not sure which company or companies).  I was curious if they had anything similar to what you run for the Red Warriors.

My father's name is John Beirne. He goes by Jack. His hometown is Jersey City, NJ.  I'd ask him about the finer details, but a severe stroke from about a hear and a half ago has left him unable to communicate effectively.  Coming into possession of his Army stuff and remembering the few stories he'd tell me when I was younger led me to wonder more and more about his service and life in Vietnam in general.  I couldn't find much in the way of orders, but I do know he was in the 1/8th 4th ID, he arrived in country in as an O-1 in early 1969 and was a platoon leader.  He became on O-2 at some point, was briefly a company XO, but returned to commanding a platoon on account of a scarcity of platoon leaders.  At some point he sustained a shrapnel wound to the back of the neck. He was shot on September 26, 1969 (an easy date for me to remember because he always played it in the lottery or at the racetrack), shattering his wrist and forearm.  This took him out of Vietnam.  He was promoted to 0-3 stateside, but soon retired from the service at age 23 or 24.  You may definitely share this letter.  And the best of luck with the site!  by John Beirne
I heard a story that as Ronald Reagan was placing his hand on a Bible to be sworn in, Air Force B-52 bombers were in the air nearing Iran.  The story continues that if the hostages were not out of Iranian air space by the time President Reagan took office, his first order would have been to take action against Iran to end the hostage situation.  The hostages were freed just minutes after the new President was sworn in and before he could give any orders. We could use another Ronald Reagan again.  I met him in Waukesha, Wisconsin before he got shot.  Another time and place.

Thank you and Good point.  I needed something to fill up the page when I started it.  Since Jack lives near Bears' town, I put it in for "filler".  It's gone now.

Sent in with time to watch:
Feb 3rd, FOX News presented a special entitled "Radical Islam: In Their Own Words".  It was aired at 9 pm Eastern time.  One needs to watch this so you can be more aware of these radicals whose mission is to destroy our way of life.  If you can't watch it, tape it for later viewing.
If you are a Christian, you know that this is another "sign of the times" which Jesus spoke about.  He is our strength is these days of terrorism.
